After downloading the latest free version update for your full version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, you will experience new gameplay. Here is a list of what is going to happen in the game.

#1: Wisp’s amiibo Business

While you’re playing the game, an Empty Lamp wil appear in town. It will beg you to take it to your home. Just grab it and take it to your house. Place it somewhere in any of your rooms. When you touch it, Wisp will come out and turn into characters depending on which amiibo you use.

  • Using a certain non-Animal Crossing amiibo or exclusive Welcome amiibo villager cards will turn Wisp into a crossover or normal villagers that will invite them to the Campground. Crossover amiibo includes Zelda, Splatoon, Monster Hunter, and Sanrio amiibo.
  • Scanning a Special Character amiibo card will turn Wisp into a Special Character who give you a Picture of that Special Character. Scanning a Special Character amiibo figure will have Wisp give have Special Characters come to the campground.
  • Using any Animal Crossing amiibo cards other than Welcome amiibo exclusives will only invite villagers to town in secret.

As long as you have the NFC Reader/Writer turned on, you can use amiibo in the game.

#2: Lottie’s HHD Business

Sometime later, Lottie will appear in Nook’s Homes to teach you how to rearrange furniture in any room. If you link Happy Home Designer save data to this game, Lottie will do two good things when you play the game the next day. Lottie will give you something in the mail and add HHD exclusive items in the Shopping Catalog.

The amiibo camera will also be available in the title menu, so you can take a photo at anytime. You can use your avatar and any villagers you currently have in town. You can also using Animal Crossing amiibo figurines and cards to summon characters in the camera.

#3: Campground and MEOW Coupon Initiatives

The Campground will be added, and you can get MEOW Coupons in few ways:

  • Earn 1-3 MEOW Coupons for completing Town Initiatives daily and weekly depending on the initiative prompt.
  • Earn 5 MEOW Coupon from Wisp once per day anytime you scan a right amiibo to the game.
  • Earn more MEOW Coupons for completing accomplishments in Puzzle League or Desert Island Escape.

You can use MEOW Coupons to either exchange for deposited Bells in ABD machine or pay for Campground/RV exclusive furniture.

#4: Animal Crossing Mini-Game Furniture and Amiibo usage

Two additional furnitures can be obtianed via winning tickets from Fortune Cookies that can be bought for 2 Play Coins each. One can let you play Animal Crossing: Puzzle League while the other lets you play Desert Island Escape. You can use only Animal Crossing amiibo in these two games. When using Animal Crossing amiibo figures, you can try out new ways to clear out blocks in Puzzle League. When using Animal Crossing amiibo cards in Desert Island Escape, you will have the opportunity to complete all levels without having to pay Play Coins to use in-town villagers.

#5: Additional Distributed Items

There are several distributed items available to get in this update. It only happens in a specific of period of time for players who have a Japanese or Korean regional version of the game. If your game is in a North American or European region, you won’t get these items and will have to convince a Japanese or Koreon gamer online or locally to give you one.

#6: Other Changes and Additions

The Sickness in animal villagers are removed, making the Medicine only used for curing bee stings. You can obtain additional furniture or items from certain RVs or by letter from Nintendo for Puzzle League or Desert Island Escape achievements. The selling price for one specific type of fish is now more valuable. You can also get a Secret Storeroom as an additional expansion for your house. You’ll experience every other gameplay changes in this game.
