While the online service and Nintendo eShop in the Wii U and 3DS is gone forever, there is still an opportunity to get retain those DLCs and achievements from online activities. The online service that you did not know is Pretendo. Pretendo is an online service that will make online play on your Wii U and 3DS games last forever. Once you sign up for Pretendo and download the service into your computer, you should save it into your SD card and safely place into the Wii U Console’s SD Card slot and do the same thing for the 3DS.
If you have a Wii U and 3DS and still intend to get a true 100% Completion on those Wii U and 3DS games with online play, then I strongly recommend you get Pretendo service into those systems as soon as possible. However, you going to have to search a video on YouTube about how to safely install Pretendo into the Wii U and 3DS without making a mistake and messing up your gameplay data.
For both Wii U and 3DS owners, the following homebrew apps for the right console must be required to download and run Pretendo.
Wii U Homebrew app – Inkay Aroma. Download it into the SD Card for the Wii U console and then insert it to the Wii U to completely link your account to the Pretendo. Do that first.

- To install Pretendo in the Wii U’s SD Card, the instructions is held in this link: https://pretendo.network/docs/install/wiiu
- Side Note: You should choose to download the Inkay and install it to the Wii U’s SD Card as long as Aroma is active.
- Remember that while setting up and linking a Pretendo Account on both Wii U and 3DS (processed in the next section), your username, password, and email on Pretendo Account CANNOT be the same as the ones used in Nintendo Network.
3DS Homebrew app – FBI, Luma 3DS, or Universal-Updater. Youtube search the instructions on how to use install them carefully and safely to the SD Card for the 3DS. Then once you download the Pretendo from Luma3DS, go ahead to link your Pretendo Account you created on the Wii U to the 3DS.
- To correctly and safely install Boostrap that contains the Luma3DS, FBI, and Universal-Updateer together, the instructions are held in this link: https://3ds.hacks.guide/get-started
- You can actually download Pretendo safely from Luma3DS. Just ensure you have the version 13 on the Luma 3DS and ensure you check off the following:
- Enable loading external FIRMS and modules
- Enable game patching
- Side Note: You may experience errors while completing the Nintendo Network to Pretendo Process. Please, make sure you following all steps provided in those links very clearly to prevent the 3DS console from crashing.
Once you did both of these processes in the correct order, you should be good to go and prepare to start playing with other players online once more. You may also delete your game data from Wii U and 3DS games with online achievements and obtain them again at any time as long as you have Pretendo Network in your hands. Soon enough, the curse on the Wii U and 3DS games with online services WILL BE permanently broken.
Like I said, we’re all worried for our Wii U and 3DS games that include DLC and online achievements that should be obtained. If you’re not interested to Nintendo games or not planning to have a Wii U or 3DS, then don’t worry about it.
