Changes for Wii U and Switch Remakes

I know already told you that the Wii U online systems has been shut down as of early April 2024 making it no longer possible to achieve online milestones and rewards in specific Wii U Games. I also know that I already told you to correctly install an appropriate Homebrew app for Wii U and Pretendo Network to see if you can try to bring back online services and “break the curse”. However, did you know Nintendo is planning on making remakes for specific Wii U Games to make it up to those who desperately desire to get a 100% completion on Nintendo Games for Wii U and Switch alike?

As of March 20, 2025, Nintendo will release Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch which will include all DLCs unlocked from the start. That means… If you own a Wii U and have the Xenoblade Chronicles X original game, you can still play it get an ordinary 100% completion on everything that can be achieved offline. However, if you desire to get a 100% completion of Holofigures and achievements in Xenoblade Chronicles X, I recommend doing it in Definitive Edition remake since the Switch can currently enable you to play with online players and help them out.

Additionally, if you have New Super Mario Bros. U, Mario Kart 8 (Wii U), Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U), Super Mario 3D World (Wii U), Pikmin 3 and Hyrule Warriors (Wii U), you can still play them. However, with time growing short on the Wii U, there’s always New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Switch), Pikmin 3 Deluxe and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition to get a 100% completion on.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition made it easier to get a 100% completion of all medals by replacing the Big Bro Medal on Wii U version with an exclusive Medal that you can unlock in Adventure Mode in the Switch remake. This game doesn’t have an online feature anyway. Pikmin 3 Deluxe has all DLCs unlocked from the beginning, but also don’t have online features.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Switch also have online features, but don’t have anything involved with online achievements. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can allow you to compete with racers online with new DLC race tracks in Booster Course Pass. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Switch does have an online feature where you can download expert players time attack records to watch how they managed to get gold medals on every level in each world.

New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury can be played normally like the Wii U original, but with a feature where you can play with others online during multiplayer.
